Is there any commitment WCCT services?

No contracts. Services are provided on a month-to-month basis.

How long does it take to activate services?

WCCT wireless service, phone and tv can be installed in about 7 days.  WCCT and Cogeco fiber internet take about 14 days.

How do I get setup?

One of our qualified technicians will attend your address, install all service and confirm operation before leaving,

For DSL, the equipment will be mailed with set up instructions.

Cancellation policy

Pay reaminder on service billijng period, and book an equipment recovery. Allequipment must be returned to avoid cancellation fees.

How much bandwidth do I need?

Basic Usage (1–2 Devices): Web browsing, email, social media, and streaming low-quality video. Recommended Bandwidth: 5–25 Mbps

Moderate Usage (3–5 Devices): Online multiplayer gaming, HD streaming, video conferencing, and downloadingfiles. Recommended Bandwidth: 50–100 Mbps

Heavy Usage (More than 5 Devices): 4K streaming, large file transfers, live streaming, and simultaneous high-bandwidth activities across multiple devices. Recommended Bandwidth: 150–500 Mbps

Multi-Person Households with Smart Devices: If your household includes multiple people working from home or using smart devices like TVs, cameras, and assistants: Recommended Bandwidth: 100–500 Mbps
depending on the number of devices and simultaneous activities

Gigabit Plans
Speeds 1+ Gbps are generally unnecessary for residential users unless there are numerous connected devices or intensive activities like professional video editing or hostingservers. Most households in the WCCT service area can comfortably operate with speeds under 100 Mbps.

How much downloading speed do I need to watch the 4K UHD video?

The 1080p HD streaming on YouTube or NETLIFX requires 5.0 Mbps (Megabits per second) stable connection while the 4K UHD streaming needs AT LEAST minimum a 25.0 Mbps (Megabits per second) stable connection. If you have a 25M internet plan with us, you may not be able to watch 4K UHD video smoothly because any fluctuation of your downloading speed will cause buffering for 4K video streaming. We recommend to have at least 50 Mbps downloading speed to watch the 4K video.

How do I protect my home network and personal devices from cyber attacks?

One useful tool is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) Canadian Shield.

CIRA Canadian Shield is a free, public DNS resolver that helps you connect to websites you're trying to visit while simultaneously checking if the websites are safe. If a site is known to be malicious, it will prevent you from accessing it to keep you protected.

How do I test my Internet speed?

If you would like to accurately test your Internet speed when you find it slow, do the following:

  1. Using a wired Internet connection, launch your Web browser.
  2. Visit the website: www.speedtest.net.
  3. Click Go. The speed test begins. NOTE: The test may take up to one minute.
  4. Your download and upload speeds are displayed.
Can TV be ordered separately without subscribing to a WCCT internet service?

Yes, as long as there is an established internet connection. If there is no internet connection, one can be installed specifically for the service. Additional fees may apply.

Does WCCT internet support IPTV service from other providers?

Our internet can support other provider's IPTV service, but it's not guaranteed.

Is PVR (video recording) available?

No, not at this time.

Can I order multiple IPTV boxes?

Yes. One is included with a standard order.  You will need a TV box for each TV that you want to connect. Additonal TV boxes may be rented at $5.00 per month. Additional installation fees may apply.  

What is VOIP?

Voice over IP, abbreviated to VoIP, is also commonly called Internet Telephony and IP Telephony. In a word, Voice over IP is a technology that allows you to make and receive local and international phone calls over the Internet. Most individuals and companies that have replaced their traditional phone lines with Voice over IP, or used the two in parallel, have cut their communication costs by as much as 90%. Cost-cutting is not the only benefit of Voice over IP - it also provides you with many additional features which will enrich and empower your communication experience, among many other benefits.

Is long distance included?

Yes, long distance on Canada, the United States, Mexico is included with our phone service.

If I relocate for an extended period, can I take my phone adapter with me?
Yes, you can but WCCT phone adapters are set up to operate over WCCT's internal network infrastructure. If you move your phone adapter, you will have to provide its new internet service ip address so the phone connection can be modified to allow it to connect the WCCT phone infrastructure from the new location.
911 Service

911 service is supported as long as the systems are updated with accurate location information. It is customers' responsibility to ensure that WCCT is provided with the correct location information.

Medical Devices

Medical devices that require a phone line are not compatible with the WCCT phone service bcause if the internet connection is lost, the phone service will be lost as well.

WCCT services are pre-paid. What does that mean?

WCCT services are pre-paid - customers are required to pay prior to the commencement of the billing cycle for subscribed Services subscribed. If a payment is late, services might be temporarily suspended until payment is made to your account.

Billing Dates

Monthly billing on the 1st, the 5 or 20th of the month. Speak with billing.

Payment Methods

Cash, cheque, e-transfer using Auto-Deposit, online payments from major banks (EFT) and credit card.

 

What is the policy with respect to late payments?

Invoices are due on receipt and if payment is not received within 21 days the account is at risk of suspension.

Once suspended, reconnection requires proof of payment of all arrears plus a reconnection fee of $50 plus HST.  

How do I receive my monthly invoice?

WCCT is going green.  An email will be sent every billing cycle when the invoice is generated.

A $3.75 mailing fee applies to any paper invoice or hardcopy record request.

Do I get a revised invoice upon cancellation?

WCCT does not pro-rate for cancellations. Anyone cancelling after the billing date can choose to have an immediate disconnection, or keep the service active until the next bill date.

What qualifies for a discount/refund/credit?

Credits can be requested but will not be approved if:

  • Services are interrupted by natural cause, e.g. an ice storm
  • Service equipment is tampered with, this includes interior/exterior equipment
  • Issues are not related to the delivery and/or performance of our services
